Bind speaks of shared feelings or experiences and refers to both human relationships to oneself and to others, as well as a physical bind or connection between surfaces and materials that have been joined together. Aedy is interested in the nexus of materials with the juncture of meaning and how these things come together in physical ways. These pieces explore polarities between fragments and the whole and vary in dimensions from intimate to life size.

Through exploring a dichotomy of materials to make meaning, both connection and disconnection is experienced through mediums and processes that communicate the symbiotic ongoing process of navigating the human condition.

Human experiences of trauma and loss where a breakdown of boundaries can occur, a loss of relationship with the self or others can leave us vulnerable. This body of work aims to reflect on experiences that are hard. Parts that change and shape us, the things that we don’t wish to speak. Through doing and making, finding a voice to grapple with these experiences, this work acts as a conduit, and remains a tool to transform and remind us that we are all connected to our own stories and experiences, we bare witness in the recognition that our experiences are at once personal and universal and that out of the murky darkness they can be owned and acknowledged and held up to the light.
