The Past Remains
Part of HWY 1, at 10 Days on the Island, 2003, at Ross Female Factory, Ross Tasmania
This commissioned piece, was installed at the lieutenants cottage at The Female Factory, where several women and babies lived and died in incarceration as part of Tasmania’s convict past.
These installations were viewed through a post like slot, cut out of wood which blocked the doorways. Three spaces held female figures in different forms.
The Past Remains explored loss and grief and presence and absence through the body.
